A pocket size edition of the Eastern / Greek Orthodox New Testament (EOB). Volume 2 includes the Introduction to the EOB, the Acts of the Apostles, the Letters and the Revelation of John. About the EOB The EOB New Testament … is based on the official ecclesiastical text published in 1904 by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (again documenting all significant variants to the Critical Text, Majority Text and Textus Receptus). It also provides extensive footnotes and Appendices dealing with significant verses such as Matthew 1618; John 11,18; John 1526. The Patriarchal text was selected on Mount Athos from among a large number of reliable ecclesiastical manuscripts and appears to be identical or similar to Minuscule 1495 (KR subgroup). The main purpose of the EOB is to provide an accurate and easy-to-read English text of the Holy Scriptures that is suitable for use by Orthodox Christian communities and individuals, while providing an outstanding text for scholars.

Faithful to the original text, clear and concise, without the biases and assumptions that affect and diminish most Protestant and Roman translations. A perfect choice for Orthodox Christians, and for any Christian looking for a good reading and study Bible. The Orthodox Study Bible, which is currently most popular with Orthodox Christians, initially promised to be a completely new translation of the Scriptures from the original languages. Unfortunately it ended up being just a slightly reworked edition of the New King James Version Bible, which was a great disappointment. This Bible, on the other hand, seems to me to be what the OSB promised to be. Hopefully we will soon see pocket versions of the Eastern/Greek Orthodox Old Testament, or at least the Psalter.Product details

The Eastern / Greek Orthodox New Testament Volume 2 Acts Letters and Revelation Fr Laurent Cleenewerck 9781939028075 Books Reviews
Being fluent in both English and Greek ,I am expressing the remarkable ease with which one is able to comprehend the version published by Newromepress and if the whole purpose is to enable the reader to fully understand the meaning of the Gospel ,then there is no better product to accomplish this. This is a translation by those who fully understand the original and could not be more authentic. The print and the design facilitate the reference to excerpts as never before . It is a great pleasure to witness the publication of the treasures of Orthodoxy in such form as to invite deeper study.
For all of the same reasons I stated in my review of the Gospels by the same translator. Seems more interested in being politically correct than an accurate translation.
This is my FAVORITE translation. I have used many other translations back when I was protestant and journeyed through different churches. KJV, GENEVA, ESV, NASB... etc THIS ONE BEATS THEM ALL! I feel I have a much easier time now getting to the Orthodox understanding of the text because the words are just more plainly Orthodox.
This volume represents a long overdue translation of the NT based upon the Patriarchal text that finally expresses in English an Orthodox perspective of the New Testament. For the Orthodox reader, or one who wants the Orthodox perspective, this is the translation to have, in contrast to the innumerable versions that express a Protestant or Roman Catholic perspective. As part of a 3 volume set, it is a handy size for easy transport and portable use. Fonts and design are in keeping with the impeccable style and taste for which NEWROME Press is known.
I have read several different translations of the New Testament and this is the best. The Gospels and Acts, Letters, and Revelation are in two separate volumes. In addition there is a third volume of explanatory appendices which expands on the introductions contained in the other two. It's quite interesting but not necessary for a complete understanding of the actual text. The paper is far more substantial that the paper typically used in Bibles. My only complaint is that I'm wearing out the covers.
This is an excellent and fresh translation of the original New Testament from Greek into the contemporary English language. Matthew and the Epistles bring a new look to the text and possibly theology(?). This successfully translated Greek NT is constructively supplemented with the numerous footnotes, references, alternatives, and interpretations of the Church Fathers. I also had the opportunity to compared the Greek Old Testament also - the Septuagint Greek version, and it is clear the original Greek was also used and spoken by the Apostles and all of the Early Christians - this really brings to light many areas of the Scriptures (Old and New Testament) in a consistent way. I visited PalTalk, some rooms where where some qualified people read the scriptures and interpreted them, I brought the translations from Greek into English and this has positively impacted the participating members. There were many other members that didn't want some passages to be properly clarified by this Greek to English translation, but now they see the value of this Greek to English translation.
By reading this translation in Church or in groups, it becomes evident that it is exactly what the early Christians did). The American Fathers of the War of Independence read their Bible in the original Greek. Did this offer an alternative view of life? Do we, who speak and understand our Bibles in contemporary languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Russian) really have the best versions? What if we all read and spoke the Old and New Testaments in Greek? Or at least referred to the Greek version? How would our theology change? Why use something that is twice removed?
Faithful to the original text, clear and concise, without the biases and assumptions that affect and diminish most Protestant and Roman translations. A perfect choice for Orthodox Christians, and for any Christian looking for a good reading and study Bible. The Orthodox Study Bible, which is currently most popular with Orthodox Christians, initially promised to be a completely new translation of the Scriptures from the original languages.
